Social Media is still a new concept to many companies and there are still many people not convinced that it can work for them. Then there are companies that have embraced it and management are enthusiastic and totally into Social Media. This article is aimed at people who have discovered social media and believe that it can work for their company, but their management are either less than enthusiastic or perhaps almost in the dark about social media.

By now you should have a better understanding of what is unique about you and what you want to achieve. I am now going to address how to define your target audience/market/job. This involves understanding who or what you want to reach and what they need or want. This usually involves doing some research. Research can be done on the net, phoning up a person and talking to them or reading press or trade journals.

Research Dismissed!

Many times, I have sat in a research presentation and the outcomes challenged because they contradict management’s perception. I have seen executives walk out, taking from the research that which agrees with their views and dismissing that that differ. Is this dangerous or correct?
